What is wildlife crime?

According to ENACT Africa, wildlife crime is defined as the poaching, smuggling or illegal transportation of specific animal products or species (such as rhino horn or elephant tusks) by criminal groups or individuals, for the purpose of financial profit or other material gain.

Wildlife crime is ongoing in Namibia, but more recently there have been some major efforts to strengthen the response to this scourge. These efforts have focused on prevention, response and follow-up but comparatively little has been progressed around communications.
